Depression and Older Adults: A MENTBEST Workshop in Thessaloniki

Mentbest Depresion and Older Adults

On 22 June 2026, thirty older adults and younger volunteers from three Thessaloniki community organisations gathered at the York University Europe Campus for a two-hour interactive workshop on depression and older adults, delivered as part of the MENTBEST intervention,“Promoting Mental Health in Times of Change”, led by the South East European Research Centre (SEERC).

Through experiential games, interactive activities and group discussions, participants explored the signs and symptoms of depression and suicidal behaviour, as well as approaches to prevention, early recognition and available support.

The workshop concluded with a symbolic creative activity: participants decorated flower pots and took home seeds to plant, carrying with them the message of the Mental Health Alliance of Thessaloniki: “Blooming Together Without Depression.”
