MENTBEST and its app MENTINA have been featured in Biotech Spain, in an article that explores how the project is responding to a growing concern: as more people turn to unvalidated artificial intelligence tools for mental health support, MENTBEST has developed a clinically grounded alternative.

Unlike AI-based tools, the MENTINA app has been created by a team of expert psychologists and psychiatrists, and its content is based on evidence-based psychological interventions. The app monitors daily activity through specific questions, provides personalised recommendations, and seeks to promote the self-management of mental health, all while safeguarding user confidentiality.

The article also covers the clinical trial currently underway across five European countries, involving 660 volunteers who will use the app for one year. Notably, MENTINA is the first mental health app to seek certification as a medical device, ensuring the most rigorous ethical and clinical standards have been followed throughout its development.

As Dr Benedikt Amann, MENTBEST coordinator in Spain and Director of the Research Unit at Hospital del Mar’s Centre Fòrum, explains in the piece, the study is part of a broader commitment to transforming healthcare through digital solutions built around prevention and personalised, participatory medicine.
